Clean Water – the most important thing on the planet?

Most of us take the availability of fresh water as a given, and use it without a second thought. This is not so easy for people in many parts of the world. The charity WaterAid provides immense help.

748 million people in the world do not have access to safe water. This is roughly one in ten of the world’s population.
(WHO/UNICEF Joint Monitoring Programme (JMP) Report 2014 update). In 2013/14 WaterAid reached 1.9 million people with safe water and 2.9 million people with sanitation. (WaterAid, WaterAid Annual Review 20103/14)

Lack of water, sanitation and hygiene costs Sub-Saharan African countries more in lost GDP than the entire continent gets in development aid. (Using percentage estimate from UNDP: Human Development Report, 2006). In 2013/14  WaterAid reached 1.9 million people with safe water and 2.9 million people with sanitation. (WaterAid, WaterAid Annual Review 20103/14)

Welcome to ICT Aid.

Here I hope to showcase charities and institutions that use ICT.
I have no direct link to any of the charities mentioned, and receive no payment to highlight their services. If you would like to contribute to the upkeep of this site, please use the ‘donate’ button on the left.

Most of the information is taken straight from their own websites. There is always a direct link to their home page if you want to know more, or would like to contribute to their cause.
